Museum-Estate of I. K. Kalashnikov
About museum
In 1992 the museum-estate of the well-known Russian writer I. K. Kalashnikov was opened. Today it houses 4,650 exhibits, including documents, photographs, letters, maps, drawings, portraits, books, the writer's personal belongings, household items, antique furniture, icons, old coins and other objects. On the writer's birthday the museum holds Kalashnikov readings, attended by poets and writers from Buryatia and, of course, people close to Kalashnikov. Over the years the museum has been visited by thousands of people of different ages, faiths and nationalities from Irkutsk, Chita, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Angarsk, Germany, the Czech Republic, Mongolia, China, Estonia, Latvia, Japan and other countries. Next to the museum there is a folklore ensemble 'Rodnik' which performs I. K. Kalashnikov's songs as well as ritual songs of the Semeiskie people.
