About museum
The Museum of Tver Everyday Life is a complex of buildings representing urban culture of the 18th–19th centuries. It includes a town estate with a main house, wings, a carriage shed and a barn, as well as the two-story house of the Arefyev merchants. The museum presents the everyday life of Tver townspeople — craftsmen, inventors and artists of the 19th–20th centuries. In the exhibition 'Beauty and Use' you can see antique embroidery, lace, goldwork and learn about the Tver folk costume. In 'Visiting the Tver Merchants' the interior of a merchant's house from the late 19th century is recreated. 'On Russian Samovars: Tver Tea Drinking' tells the story of vessels used to heat water in Russia. In the 'Tver Gingerbread Shop of the 19th Century' visitors learn about the gingerbread craft and can taste a Tver gingerbread. The museum offers many interesting impressions and a chance to learn the true history of Tver.
