Ochakovo Museum of Traditional Russian Beverages
About museum
The creation of a museum at the Ochakovo enterprise is linked to the revival of traditional Russian kvass production. In the 1990s, company representatives regularly traveled to rural areas to visit local bearers of traditional culture and learn the subtleties of making homemade kvass. The elders gifted the company's representatives wooden items used in preparing the drink. Thus the enterprise's collection came to include an icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron of brewers, painted at the end of the 18th — beginning of the 19th century. As a result, a decision was made to create a special collection of exhibits that would allow visitors to the enterprise to learn in detail about the production of classic beverages. During the tour, guests can see how beer or craft beer is made, and also study the process of boiling lemonade and kvass. In the brewer's hut, visitors can immerse themselves in old Russian rural life and learn how drinks were made at home many years ago.
