In 2010 the Museum of Speed was opened in the Valery Pavlovich Chkalov House of Culture; it is dedicated to the development of speed on water. The museum focuses on Rostislav Evgenyevich Alekseev, the chief designer of hydrofoil vessels, and his work. On the Trotsa River near Chkalovsk there is a test base of the design bureau and an airfield. The museum's collections allow visitors to feel the atmosphere of Vasileva Sloboda and learn about its history. On display are photographs, furniture, antiques, personal items, originals and copies of documents, various installations, layouts, and models of ekranoplanes and ships. The museum presents 21st-century technical achievements and interactive exhibits, including various video presentations. Tens of thousands of tourists and visitors have already come to this place, and the museum always has something to surprise its guests!
