About museum

The Russian Icon Museum is currently the largest private collection of Eastern Christian art. It covers works of Russian icon painting from the 14th to the 20th centuries, as well as pieces created by masters of Byzantium, the Mediterranean and Ethiopia. The museum was founded in 2006 by Mikhail Yuryevich Abramov, a Moscow entrepreneur and patron. Today the museum presents more than 5,000 exhibits; the permanent exhibition occupies approximately 1,000 square meters on Goncharnaya Street in Moscow. Visits to the museum and all tours, exhibitions, concerts and lectures held there are provided free of charge to all segments of the population.
