Joseph Brodsky's 'One and a Half Rooms' Museum
About museum
In 1999, Brodsky's friends Mikhail Isaevich Milchik and Yakov Arkadyevich Gordin founded the Foundation for the Creation of the Joseph Brodsky Museum. Over five years they managed to purchase four of the five rooms of the Muruzis' apartment. In 2017, Russian entrepreneur Maxim Levchenko joined the project and created an information portal, and in 2018 the neighboring apartment was purchased. In 2020, after extensive restoration, conservation, and repair work, the Joseph Brodsky 'One and a Half Rooms' Museum was opened. The museum continues to engage with the poet's friends, build its collections, conduct research, and host various events such as exhibitions, lectures, conferences, and meetings.
