Museum of Partisan Glory
About museum
The settlement of Przhevalskoye is associated with the name of the famous traveler N. M. Przhevalsky, but during World War II this area was known as a partisan republic, and the village of Sloboda (now Przhevalskoye) was its capital. On September 21, 1993, the Museum of Partisan Glory was opened here. The exhibition shows the combat operations of partisan detachments on the territory of Smolensk Oblast during the war, as well as the activities of the formation under the command of the legendary N. Z. Kolyada-Batya, and the special-purpose detachments of the 4th Shock and 43rd Armies, which liberated the Smolensk region. The museum displays many interesting relics: an honorary certificate on a piece of parachute silk, pages with records of partisan combat actions, the book 'The Partisan's Companion' published in 1942, a model of a dugout with authentic household items, weapons and the 'Belka' radio, which allow one to imagine the everyday life of partisans.
