Museum of the Defense of the Pre-Elbrus Region
About museum
At 'Defense of the Pre-Elbrus Region', a museum located at an altitude of more than 3,500 meters above sea level, the history of the highest-altitude front of World War II is presented. Here, forces planned to capture the mountain passes of the Pre-Elbrus region, which were close to Transcaucasia, and that is why the fighting here was particularly fierce. During the tour visitors can see not only documentary materials but also authentic exhibits housed in the museum, and can also view the mountain panorama from outside the building. Every year the summer snowmelt brings archaeologists new finds, making a visit to the museum even more interesting.
