About museum

On September 17, 1993, in the village of Starosubkhangulovo, Burzyansky District, a scholarly conference of prominent figures and researchers in the field of folkloristics was held on the occasion of Mukhtar Sagitov's 60th birthday — a renowned scholar and laureate of the Salavat Yulaev Prize. At the conference it was proposed to create a museum dedicated to this great scholar, whose life and work had a significant influence on the development of national consciousness and the culture of the Bashkir people. The museum was opened on September 16, 1995. Author of more than 70 scientific works, Mukhtar Sagitov participated in the publication of the multi-volume series "Library of World Literature", in which the epic "Ural Batyr" was published in ten languages of the world. The museum has one exhibition hall where, on ten display panels, Mukhtar Sagitov's life and creative work are presented in chronological order. Also on display are replicas, a genealogy, corner showcases with personal belongings, manuscripts and scientific and research works written and self-printed by him, ethnographic items and old books.
