Museum of Art Nouveau
About museum
The Kurlin estate — built in 1903 to a design by A.G. Kurlin and A.P. Kurlina — is one of the earliest examples of the Art Nouveau architectural style in Samara. The Museum of Art Nouveau was opened here; it represents an intact historical environment reflecting the culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. According to legend, the molded depiction of a head on the façade and the floating nymph on the boudoir ceiling represent the image of the beautiful Sandra Kurlina. Members of this famous family were known philanthropists and patrons of various children's institutions. The Kurlin estate is rightly called the 'pearl' of Samara's Art Nouveau.
