Uryupinsky District Museum
About museum
Uryupinsky District Museum — one of the youngest municipal museums in Volgograd Oblast. It was established in 2006.
Originally the institution was named "Tepikinsky Historical and Local History Museum", and in December 2011 it was rebranded as the "Uryupinsky District Historical and Local History Museum", since the museum is intended to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the entire district.
At the time of its opening the museum was an empty site in the stanitsa of Tepikinskaya, where an open-air exhibition called "Prehistoric Village" was built; it remained in operation until 2014.
In 2014 the museum, with the project "Levykinsky Town", became the winner of the "Cultural Mosaic of Small Towns and Villages" competition of the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation. As a result, a completely new exhibition was constructed in the Petrovsky khutor, which became the center for the development of cultural leisure in the territory of the Petrovsky rural settlement, and later for the entire Uryupinsky district.
