Museum «Office of Engineer G.M. Budagov»
About museum
The “Office of Engineer Budagov” is an architectural monument and the beginning of the city's history. It housed the “brain center” of the track engineers whose task was the construction of a railway bridge across the Ob River, which led to the growth of Novonikolayevsk–Novosibirsk. In 2018 the house was restored and a branch of the Novosibirsk Museum — the “Office of Engineer Budagov” — was opened here. For the project it was decided to preserve as many original parts of the building as possible. The wooden logs from which it was constructed were almost entirely preserved, while the rotten top and bottom log courses were replaced. Based on the surviving fragments and photographs, new wooden window trims and other decorative elements were carved. In Budagov's Office one can feel the atmosphere of the late 19th–early 20th century. The museum exhibition presents information about the construction of the railway bridge, the bridge-builders' settlement, the Altai Railway, as well as about Grigory Budagov himself and his family.
