About museum
The history of the Elabuga Institute began with the name of the merchant Stakheev, known for his philanthropy. In the late 19th – early 20th centuries in Elabuga, Hereditary Honorary Citizen Glafira Fedorovna Stakheeva built a building for the Diocesan School, which is now the site of the university. The museum exhibition features photographs of the philanthropist Glafira Fedorovna Stakheeva, her husband Vasily Grigoryevich Stakheev and their children. The exhibition also includes information on the activities of the Elabuga Diocesan Women's School (1898–1918), the Tatar Teachers' Seminary (1918–1920), pedagogical courses (1920–1923) and the Pedagogical College (1923–1930), as well as on the institute's connection to the war, the Elabuga State Pedagogical Institute and the Elabuga Institute of Kazan Federal University (KFU).
