About museum
In 1882 the V. M. Florinsky Museum of the History, Archaeology and Ethnography of Siberia at Tomsk State University was founded. The museum's holdings total around 300,000 storage units, including archaeological materials that provide insight into the ancient history and culture of the peoples of Siberia, the Cis-Urals, the Russian Far East, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the Black Sea region, and Scandinavia, as well as ethnographic materials, a numismatic collection, weapons and means of defense from the Medieval and Modern periods, items of religious worship, a library, photographs, and a collection of visual art from the late 19th–20th centuries. The museum's collections are used for research, education, and public outreach, and some of the collections are available for viewing.
