Transit Point Museum
About museum
In 1877 the building of the transit station was constructed as a resting place for convicts traveling along the Siberian Route. In 2000 a museum was founded in this building; it is recognized as a monument of regional significance. Visitors can experience the role of a convict by putting on shackles, try prisoner porridge, and even spend an extreme overnight on the bunks. In 1900 a two-grade zemstvo school was opened in the building, and later a school occupied it, which is why it avoided major renovations. The museum exhibits authentic historical items and therefore has great potential for education and upbringing.
