Museum of Old Russian Art
About museum
\n\nThe Epiphany Church (1687–1695) is a monument of national architectural significance and occupies a special place among architectural ensembles. It was built in the Moscow Baroque style with stone carving on the facades. Around it there is a band of architectural ornamentation and a double row of glazed tiles decorated with whimsical flowers and birds. The church is notable for the 'beetle' ornamentation characteristic of Solikamsk architecture. It currently houses the Museum of Old Russian Art, which preserves a splendid collection of 17th-18th-century icons and a five-tier wooden iconostasis. Among its exhibits is an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which, according to legend, took part in a message sent by Ivan the Terrible to the people of Solikamsk.
