Museum of the Chuysky Tract
About museum
In 1992, the Museum of the Chuysky Tract was opened at Road Construction Administration No. 10. In 2010, at the initiative of the city head V. A. Mosievsky, the museum was transferred to the Municipal Budgetary Institution "Biysk Local History Museum named after V. V. Bianchi" and placed on the second floor of G. A. Varvinsky's house on Sovetskaya Street. In 2012 and 2021 the museum received grants from the Governor of Altai Krai for the creation of exhibitions. At present the museum is a popular cultural and tourist attraction in Altai Krai, featuring five exhibition halls. Visitors are particularly attracted by a unique relief model of the road made in 1992, the map "Nature of Altai Krai: Sites Subject to Protection" (1964), dioramas, the surveyor's level of the writer and explorer V. Ya. Shishkov, and a monument to the hero of the song — Kolka Snegirev. At the Museum of the Chuysky Tract, visitors can learn all about the history of this magnificent road, which over the years transformed from a pack-animal trail into the modern R-256 highway.
