Museum of Military Glory
About museum
On August 26, 1977, the Museum of Military Glory was opened in the Memorial Park in the building of the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. It presents the history of Russia's military actions from 1237 to the present day. After more than thirty years of conducting military-patriotic work among young people and commemorating fallen soldiers, a decision was made to build a new building for the museum. A ceremonial opening took place in 2010. The museum staff were awarded a medal and a badge of honor. Construction was funded by the city budget, donations from enterprises, and private individuals. The museum presents the martial history of Kolomna and the city's home-front history, as well as materials from the museum's collections and family archives. The collection includes a very rare exhibit — a shovel-mortar. It became a striking testament to the Kolomna residents' love for their hometown and their patriotism.
