Museum 'Archaeology of the Simbirsk Region'

The Museum 'Archaeology of the Simbirsk Region' is located in the basement of the former Yazykov noble house. It presents the region's history from ancient times to the present day. Documentary exhibits from the period 1718 to the 2000s are displayed. It provides information about the region's first inhabitants, their occupations, a Mesolithic campsite, an early Eneolithic fishing-and-hunting site, and Eneolithic and Neolithic settlements. The museum also tells about the period of the middle and second half of the 1st millennium AD: migrations, traces of the presence of Finno-Ugric, Abashevo, Srubna, and Imenkovo tribes, the settlement of nomadic Turkic-speaking early Bulgar tribes, and the emergence and existence of Bulgaria. The museum features unique exhibits, models, and multimedia programs.
