About museum
On February 22, 2007, as part of the celebration of Berkakit's 30th anniversary, the Local History Museum of the BAM's first builders was opened. During its two years of existence, the museum presented visitors with the history of the construction of the small BAM (Tynda–Berkakit), beginning with the 1975 "Golden Link" and culminating in projects to host exhibitions of private collections and the folk art of the pioneers. The long-cherished wish of many pioneers to travel along the road they had built became a reality. The museum proudly exhibits first builders who were awarded certificates, orders, and medals for the construction of the BAM. The history of building the northern branch of the BAM is a story of courage and of overcoming harsh natural and climatic conditions. It became a leading edge in the development of the republic's productive forces.
