Mineralogical Museum-Estate "Gems of Baikal"
About museum
On May 2, 1990, the first private mineral museum in Russia was opened in Slyudyanka. It was conceived as a tourist complex centered around a mineral museum. The construction of Valery Alekseyevich's estate ensemble took more than five years. Today the museum attracts mineral enthusiasts from around the world. The museum's main collection was assembled by Valery Alekseyevich from 1975 and consists of more than 10,000 mineral specimens from various parts of the former USSR and even from abroad. Particularly valuable for the museum are specimens from the Slyudyanka deposits. The museum regularly holds practical classes in geology and mineralogy, as well as lectures and conferences.
