Maryanovsky Local History, Historical and Art Museum
About museum
1988 marked the beginning of the history of the Maryanovsky Museum. By decision of the Regional Executive Committee's Department of Culture, the establishment of a museum of historical profile dedicated to the battles near Maryanovka in 1918 was initiated. In 1995 two rural branches were added to the district – the Museum of the History of Horse Breeding and the Museum of the Joint-Stock Company "Yuzhny". The first presents sections on the history of the establishment and development of the stud farm, horse breeds, selective breeding work and the achievements of horse breeders. The second presents materials about the fellow countryman, Hero of the Soviet Union Ponomarenko, and the history of the village's settlement. New exhibitions were also opened: "Russian izba" and "History of Firefighting". The museum holds holidays based on folk traditions, as well as educational programs for schoolchildren. The museum displays exhibits, as well as halls of the art department where works by local and Omsk artists are presented. The museum also operates an open-air museum.
