About museum
The L.N. Tolstoy Literary and Ethnographic Museum was established in 1980 and is a branch of the Chechen-Ingush Local History Museum. It was founded by teachers Ivan Kirillovich Radchenko and Nadezhda Mikhailovna Radchenko and is located in a former school building constructed in 1913. In 1914 this school was named after Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy. In 2009 a new museum building was erected, providing excellent bright exhibition spaces. Today the museum attracts many visitors from various regions of Russia. The displays correspond to the museum's profile and include a typological corner "Cossack and mountaineer courtyard of the mid-19th century." The museum director, Zagibov Salavdi, presents visitors with diverse exhibits and historical context. This museum is unique because it brings together the material and spiritual values of the peoples of the North Caucasus.
