Lensky Local History Museum
About museum
On August 26, 1977, a local history museum was opened in Lensk. Initially it consisted of two departments: historical and natural. The museum's exhibits included tools, weapons, clothing, household items, coins, minerals, samples of mineral resources, and representatives of the animal and plant worlds, as well as documents on the history of the city's and district's development. Until 2011 the museum was located on the first floor of a two-story building with an area of 140 sq. m. Then, by decision of the leadership of the municipal formation 'Lensky District' and the Municipal Cultural Institution 'Lensky District Department of Culture', the museum was transferred to a new building with an area of 620.49 sq. m. On August 3, 2013, a ceremonial opening was held at the Lensky Local History Museum. It now consists of seven exhibition halls, a multimedia hall, an events hall and an exhibition hall. Guided and themed tours of the city are also conducted for schoolchildren, residents and guests, and the museum staff continuously collect historical materials and exhibits, study materials and archival documents about people, about
