Ksenofont Dmitrievich Utkin was a Soviet and Russian historian and philosopher. Candidate of Historical Sciences, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, professor. He was born on March 1, 1935, in the locality of Orgullaakh of Tarkainsky nasleg, Nyurbinsky ulus. After finishing secondary school, in 1954 he worked in various cultural institutions in Yakutia, holding positions as a librarian, club manager, and leader of various organizations related to culture and folk art.
In 1993 Utkin defended his Candidate dissertation on the history of ferrous metallurgy in Yakutia. He became an associate professor at Yakutsk State University, and a member of the Union of Journalists of Russia and the Union of Writers of the USSR. In 1999 he defended his Doctor of Philosophy dissertation, developing the concept of 'self-choice'. From 2000 Utkin was a professor and head of a department at the Yakut State Agricultural Academy.
Utkin distinguished himself as an initiator of the establishment of museums in Yakutia. He is the author of numerous scholarly works: monographs, textbooks and articles, as well as a large number of newspaper publications. Ksenofont Dmitrievich Utkin passed away on January 1, 2016.
