About museum
The museum was founded in 1970 as the Krasnozersk Painting Gallery and until 1975 was located in the House of Culture. The initiator of the museum's creation was Hero of Socialist Labour and First Secretary of the Krasnozersky District Committee of the CPSU, V.I. Korobeynikov. In 1975 the museum moved to a new building, which houses about 3,000 works from the Soviet period (1960s–1980s) by some 300 authors. The museum has three halls displaying an art collection that is a source of pride for the entire district. The exhibition hall hosts more than 40 exhibitions annually. The museum also carries out educational activities for schoolchildren of various ages. Approximately 12,000 visitors come to the museum each year, and it serves as a center of additional education for the younger generation.
