About museum
Krasny is one of the oldest towns in Smolensk Oblast, located on the Old Smolensk Road at the confluence of the Svina and Mereyka rivers. In 1963 the Krasninsky Local History Museum was officially opened; in 2003 it was named after the Yerashovs — Alexander Nikitievich and Zinaida Fedorovna. The museum houses more than 13,000 exhibits, including ethnographic items, numismatic collections, documents, photographs, and unique information. The exhibition presents the history of Krasninsky District, showing peasant life, events of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, as well as the region's modern appearance.
