About museum
In 2001, in connection with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Verkhneuslonsky District, the Local History Museum was established; on October 19 of that year it opened its doors to visitors. In the space of two exhibition halls the museum has collected materials that allow visitors to become acquainted with the ancient history of the region and the Sviyazhsk uyezd, as well as the history of Verkhny Uslon from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The museum features interior ensembles “Interior of a postal station from the late 19th – early 20th century”, “Interior of a Russian peasant house from the arable part of Verkhny Uslon” and “Interior of the veranda of a well-to-do house from the bobyl (landless peasant) part of Verkhny Uslon”. The exhibition also includes materials related to famous people who visited or passed through this district, as well as events of the Civil War, a school corner and a corner of a dwelling from the 1960s–70s. The museum displays photographic materials reflecting the development of the district center and the district in the 20th century.
