Local History Museum of the Katav-Ivanovsky Municipal District
About museum
The museum of the Chelyabinsk Region contains eight halls with permanent exhibitions that present the area's rich history and events. The museum's collections hold more than 13,000 exhibits, including collections of numismatics, phaleristics, fine art, household items, and ethnography. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions of works by artists and masters of folk art from the Chelyabinsk Region. Ritual holidays are organized for children and adults, as well as tours of the district's sights, master classes, and talks. The oldest exhibit dates from the Paleolithic era and is a mammoth tusk. A distinctive feature of the museum is color photographs from the early 19th century showing views of Katav-Ivanovsk. The most popular exhibit is a "Maxim" machine gun, which witnessed the Civil War.
