Istoki Local History Museum
About museum
\r\nOn November 11, 1995, the Istoki local history museum was opened in the village of Zolotarevo, although its creation began much earlier. It all began in 1985 when cleaner Anna Sergeevna Morozova brought to the Zolotarevo House of Culture a wooden block for making valenki — sapeg kab. This inspired the idea to collect old items and open a small local history corner. Today the museum is a vivid and multifaceted representation of the culture of the northern Udmurts. It displays items dating from the late 19th to the 20th centuries. It has five halls: 'Life and Everyday Life of the Northern Udmurts', 'Our Land in the Fire of War', 'Decorative and Applied Arts', 'Nature and People', 'Rituals Hall'. The museum's activities are aimed at reviving customs and rites, recording Udmurt songs, compiling albums, and photographing old buildings and utensils. A center of Udmurt culture operates next to the museum. The museum also conducts themed and off-site excursions and organizes tourist routes.
