Local History Museum of the Ayano-Maysky District
About museum
In 2001 the village administration took the initiative to establish a district local history museum. It contains five halls: an exhibition hall, a historical hall, an ethnographic hall, a natural history hall, and a hall of the Soviet period. The museum's collection comprises 5,602 storage units, of which 3,324 items are the primary holdings. Items such as the culture and daily life of the indigenous population of the district, banknotes, stuffed animals and birds, herbarium specimens and others are represented in the museum. Museum staff engage in local history work, conduct tours, talks and round-table discussions with the local population, and in the summer run tourist-educational and ecological hikes, national and plot-based role-playing games in the museum and in nature, as well as various scientific and practical conferences. An initiative group of schoolchildren aged 10 to 15 was created at the museum; they pursue local history studies and applied arts and crafts, for example the clubs "Young Local Historian" and "Ornament".
