Kastorensky Local History Museum
About museum
The District Executive Committee decided to open the Kastorensky Local History Museum, whose founder was E. I. Kuznetsova. During its existence the museum has moved three times, and in 1992 it was awarded the title 'People's Museum'. Since 2002 it has been a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum. The museum's collections comprise approximately 11,000 items, and the exhibition area totals 113 sq. m. The exhibition presents the history of the Kastorensky area from the second half of the 19th century to the present, as well as two historical battles that took place on the territory of the Kastorensky region during the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. In addition, it features the names of famous scientists, poets, and Heroes of the Soviet Union, as well as a Hero of Russia.
