Kasli Historical and Art Museum
About museum
In 1962, at the initiative of teachers K. A. Plotinnova and Z. I. Golovanova, the Kasli Historical and Art Museum was founded. In 1963 the museum was opened to visitors as a local history institution. Over thirty years of work the museum council significantly expanded the collection, and in 1977 the museum was transformed into the Kasli Museum of Artistic Casting. In 1989 the museum became the owner of the creative legacy of member of the Union of Artists of the USSR A. V. Chirkin, after which the A. V. Chirkin House-Museum was opened. It displays household items, the personal belongings of the sculptor and his parents, documents, photographs, a library, sculptural works, paintings and graphic works. In 1999 the museum was reorganized as the municipal institution "Kasli Historical and Art Museum." Its holdings comprise over 30,000 items: documents, photographs, numismatic collections, ethnographic exhibits, applied art products, and sculptural works created from original models by sculptors.
