Exhibitions of both local and foreign artists are held at the gallery.

\r\nIn May 2001 the P. Sholokhov Art Gallery was opened. It was created on the basis of the visual arts department of the museum, which has been operating since 1987. The gallery houses works by local artists, in particular P. Sholokhov (1898–1988). He was a well-known artist who spent his childhood and youth in Borisoglebsk. He created paintings on military themes and pictorial subjects related to places associated with L. Tolstoy and A. Chekhov. The collection also includes works by A. Ryabushkin, A. Kuprin, N. Chernyshev, A. Romanov and other notable artists. The collection comprises more than 1,300 works, of which 150 are in the permanent exhibition. The gallery hosts exhibitions by both local and foreign artists.
