Khandyga Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The History and Local Lore Museum of the settlement of Khandyga in the Tomponsky District of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was founded in October 2017. Today the museum features 11 exhibitions and houses more than 4,000 exhibits. The museum's main theme is the history of GULAG camps on the territory of the Tomponsky District; a notable exhibition is dedicated to the Alaska–Siberia–Front air ferry route, which began in 1942. There are also interesting displays on the history of photographic equipment and computing technology. The museum regularly hosts decorative and applied arts exhibitions and runs a children's club. Weekend master classes are held.
