Local History Museum of the urban-type settlement Dergachi
About museum
On May 7, 1995, a local history museum was opened in the urban-type settlement of Dergachi. Its founder and first director, Elena Vsevolodovna Cherkasova, collected materials from the recollections of longtime residents who lovingly recounted events from their lives. The museum's first exhibition, "1941–1945. Dergachi Residents at the Front and on the Home Front", has since been supplemented and expanded. The museum also displays finds from archaeological sites of the southeastern part of the Saratov Trans-Volga region, as well as the exhibitions "Mid-20th Century Room" and "Household Items", which tell about the arrival of the first local settlers in the region at the end of the 18th century and the authentic items they used. Work continues at the museum to improve the exhibitions and create new ones.
