\r\nOn May 8, 1965, the historical and local history museum was opened in one of the classrooms of the Firovo Secondary School. The museum had three main sections: 'Pages of the District's History', 'School. Years. Life.', 'They Fought for the Motherland.' More than 2,000 exhibits were collected thanks to extensive research work by students under the guidance of teachers K.I. Ivanova, P.F. Tikhomirova, N.M. Medvedeva, V.N. Gumulina, Yu.V. Zemlyakova, O.F. Yakovleva, and E.I. Rusanova.

\r\nOver 30 years of activity the museum's collection increased significantly. To preserve the exhibits and to expand accessibility, in August 1994 a decision was made to establish the district local history museum in the House of Culture. Its ceremonial opening took place on April 14, 1995.
