Engels Local History Museum
About museum
On July 9, 1925 the museum was founded, to which various items of clothing, household goods, old manuscripts, and materials on ethnography and archaeology were collected. The initiator and first director of the museum was Georg Heinrichovich Dinges. In 1941 the museum was closed and most exhibits were irretrievably lost. After World War II the museum was revived with the status of a city local history museum. The mid-1960s were fruitful for the museum's development. In the early 1990s the museum relocated to a new spacious building and began work on a professional revival under the leadership of director S. I. Spiridonova.
