Exhibition 'The Blacksmith's Homestead'
About museum
At the Ethnographic Center in Kolomenskoye, an exhibition called 'The Blacksmith's Homestead' was opened in the early 2000s. It consists of the blacksmith's homestead house, the blacksmith's son's house, a forge and a shed. The blacksmith's house contains an exhibition showcasing metal household items from the 17th to the early 20th centuries and the aspects of a craftsman's life in a Moscow suburb in the late 19th — early 20th centuries. On the homestead grounds there is a working forge for visitors, where the layout of a small general-purpose smithy with a hearth, an anvil, a vise and tools has been recreated. Highly skilled craftsmen demonstrate the process of creating unique metal items, and for children aged 6 and up a museum activity called 'Spring Calling' is offered.
