Monplaisir Palace
About museum
"Mon plaisir", translated from French, means 'my pleasure' — Peter I gave the palace this name, reflecting its purpose as a place of rest and entertainment. The building was constructed to a design by A. Schlüter; after his death, I. F. Braunstein oversaw the construction. The palace is a one-story brick building with modest decoration. The central block is covered by a high stepped roof, with long galleries with pavilions adjoining it on both sides. On the seaward side there is a terrace with a balustrade in front of the palace, and the interior rooms are still finished in the Petrine style.
