House of Merchant Fonaryov
About museum
The house was built in the mid-19th century. It was two-storied, with a stone ground floor and a wooden upper floor. It was known by the name of one of its owners — merchant A. E. Fonaryov. The facade of the house was adorned with decorative carving, a feature that could be found even in the homes of wealthy people. For a time it housed an exhibition of the 'Kuznetsk Fortress' museum. From 1993 to 2011 and from 2016 to the present it has been the site of the 'Kuznetsk Fortress' museum-reserve. The house is of local significance and is recognized as an object of cultural heritage. Here you can see the permanent exhibition 'Gornitsa', devoted to the everyday life of Siberian towns in the 19th century, as well as the temporary exhibition 'The Holy Lands of Kuznetsk', dedicated to the lives in the vicinity of Kuznetsk of three saints: Vasilisk of Siberia, Zosima of Verkhovsk, and Peter of Tomsk.
