Pushkin. The Robber Brothers, Second Edition, 1827
This is the second edition of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin's poem "The Robber Brothers", published in Moscow in 1827, during the poet's lifetime. The title preserves the author's note: "Written in 1822".
"The Robber Brothers" is one of Pushkin's "southern poems", together with "The Prisoner of the Caucasus", "The Fountain of Bakhchisaray" and "The Gypsies". The poem was first printed in 1825. According to Pushkin himself, it was prompted by "a true incident": in 1820, in Yekaterinoslav, two robbers chained together swam across the Dnieper and escaped. The poem tells of the life of a robber band, the fate of two brothers, prison and escape.
The book was printed in Moscow at the printing house of August Semen at the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy, one of the notable presses of the time. The printing is black and white, on laid paper.
