About museum
On August 16 (28), 1891, a museum was opened in Blagoveshchensk, organized by gold miners to commemorate the visit of the heir to the imperial throne — Nicholas Alexandrovich Romanov, the future Emperor Nicholas II. It was housed in one of the city's most beautiful buildings, belonging to the trading house Kunst and Albers. Since 1993 the museum has borne the name of G. S. Novikov-Daursky. Its collections comprise more than 160,000 items representing various aspects of the nature, history, and culture of the Amur region. Among them are unique items: the armor of a 17th-century Japanese samurai, costumes and attributes of Daur and Evenk shamans from the late 19th — early 20th centuries, the Ust-Nyukzhi meteorite, a collection of art from Eastern countries, etc.
