Altaysky District Local History Museum
О музее
The Altaysky District Local History Museum is located in an architectural monument, the "Forester's House", which is over one hundred years old. It is a true people's museum, since residents of the district donated materials for it free of charge. The creation of the museum began with a collection of amateur enthusiasts, and later Evdokia Andreevna Tarasova and Vitaly Yakovlevich Krechetov — a history teacher — were involved; they conducted research in the State Archive of Altai Krai. To date the museum has 8,400 exhibits arranged across 10 halls. It is part of the Small and Large Golden Ring of Altai Krai and is included in the cross-border tourist route "The Great Silk Road", so the number of visitors grows year by year.
