Aldan-Maadyr Museum
About museum
On March 4, 1991, a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Tuva bearing the name of the village was opened in Aldan-Maadyr in the Sut-Kholsky District. The basis of its exhibition was materials collected by local schoolchildren-local historians and village activists. In 1995 a new building was constructed, where in December an exhibition divided into four halls was opened. The first presents Tuvan ethnography; the second — "The Uprising of the 60 Bogatyrs (1883–1886)"; the third — the history of war and labor veterans, Heroes of Socialist Labor, internationalist soldiers, repressed people and other distinguished residents of the Sut-Khol kozhuun. The fourth hall features exhibitions about the region's creative people, local decorative and applied arts, and historical events. In addition, the museum is constantly engaged in the protection of historical and cultural monuments and takes part in sumon, kozhuun and republican events.
