Not a museum at all, but just as good.

Probably everyone knows the gorgeous seaside spaces in St. Petersburg, especially for summer relaxation, "Sevkabel Port" and "Brusnitsyn Hall". Here you can sit right on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, admire the port landscape and the new cable-stayed bridges incorporated into the modern highway network.

And right nearby, on Kozhevennaya Street, there's a unique antique furniture salon called "Alter Ego Home", where they do not only sell items but also engage in quite museum-like activities: they hold tours, media events, master classes — all at the highest level. The salon's staff include specialists with extensive museum experience. They came up with issuing real museum white gloves to all visitors and allow everything to be touched, opened, and looked into — wardrobes, chests of drawers and small cabinets — which makes the tour incredibly lively and full of emotion for the participants.

The narrative is not only about the objects themselves, but also about general trends, the characteristics of furniture from a given region, the habits and preferences of the owners, manufacturing methods and inventions! \r\nThe most interesting exhibit, in my opinion, is the ancestor of modern sliding-door wardrobes: an antique sideboard whose lower doors slide to the sides, taking up no surrounding space when opened. \r\nBut the exhibition is dynamic. Some items you may not be able to see next time if they find new owners. That's why you can come here many times, watching the exhibition change.
