After the lively May holidays comes the beloved event “Night of Museums,” this year dedicated to “Heroes” — defenders of our Motherland, home-front workers, and outstanding individuals.
On May 17 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM the Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda museum-reserve awaits children and adults for a themed festive program. That evening you can stroll through all the exhibitions with family and friends — admission is free. We invite you to visit the exhibition “Time of Heroes,” created for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in cooperation with other leading museums. Guided tours are scheduled here at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. In the intimate setting of the exhibition halls there will be a talk about key WWII battles illustrated by the story of one Aleksandrov family. The displayed photo documents, weapons, military uniforms, and soldiers’ everyday items from the 1940s are witnesses to those distant events. A separate section is dedicated to participants of the special military operation. In addition to the tour, visitors can listen to the audio guide “Where the War Can Be Heard…,” based on real stories.
The military-patriotic quest game “Partisans Across the River” (from the Center of Historical Tourism “Faces of the Past,” Ryazan) will help you “move” about 80 years back and “become” a soldier of the Great Patriotic War. Recruits will need to master a number of essential skills: field communications, sending messages using a telegraph key and Morse code, test their strength in grenade throwing, disassemble and reassemble a 1937 Mosin rifle, complete an artillery task and successfully cross a “minefield.” They will also learn to provide first aid to a wounded comrade and solve a military riddle using ingenuity. You can capture memories of the evening in a stylized photo zone — an army tent.
A frame from the inter-museum video project “The Song of the Merchant Kalashnikov...”
For Night of Museums guests — a surprise: an inter-museum video project presented in medieval interiors. Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda served as organizer and creative inspirer. The famous lines of M.Yu. Lermontov’s historical poem “The Song of the Merchant Kalashnikov” are read by staff from leading museums across the country.
“Secrets of the Tsar’s Court” and “The Printing Yard: Test Your Knowledge!” — quizzes you can take using a smartphone — will help reinforce knowledge about the history of the Tsar’s Sloboda.
The new exhibition “Flight of Thought” also transports visitors to distant centuries. It is devoted to the synthesis of arts, sciences, and high technologies and immerses you in the creative atmosphere of Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop. Thanks to the mobile app “3Da Vinci,” the genius inventions of the great Renaissance scientist, artist, and engineer come to life.
Creativity lovers can look forward to a fair with master classes in pottery, calligraphy, and wood painting. Also, the folk toy museum “Zabavushka,” familiar to many, will be visiting us again.
Sloboda is ready to welcome guests. Join us on this festive evening!
