On February 25, 1989, the Local History Museum was solemnly opened. An initiative group led by Lidiya Petrovna Araeva managed to resolve all issues in a short time and make it possible for the museum to open its doors. Today the museum building has three halls. The first hall features the exhibitions "From the Depths of Centuries", "Origins", "Crafts and Trades: Past and Future", "Pages of the Chronicle", "Spirituality", "From the Past into the Future", "War", "History in Faces". The second hall hosts the exhibitions "The Animal World of Our Region" and "The Queen of Needle and Thread", and it also holds various temporary exhibitions. The third hall of the museum is the "Virtual Concert Hall", which became a wonderful gift for all art lovers. Residents and visitors of the city can learn about the history of their native region by visiting the museum.
