Exhibition 'Life and Work'
About exhibition
The museum's permanent exhibition is devoted to the life and work of sculptor Herman Brachert (1890–1972). You will see works, sketches and photographic images of pieces created by the master at different periods of his life. The central exhibit, without doubt, is the sculpture 'The Water Carrier' (1940), which the artist created for the park in the town of Rauschen (present-day Svetlogorsk) and which is still considered one of the symbols of that resort. Today a replica is installed in the park, while the original sculpture has been moved to the house museum. Much of the sculptor's creative legacy was lost during the war and postwar years, so the museum collection can rightfully be considered unique. Pre-war interiors of the house are represented in photographs from Herman Brachert's family archive.
