Exhibition at the Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak Literary and Memorial House-Museum
About exhibition
The Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak Literary and Memorial House-Museum is a 19th-century mansion. The house where the Ural writer's family lived was acquired by him with his first fee from the publication of the novel "Privalov's Millions". In the permanent exhibition visitors will see a 19th-century interior recreated by an artist, into which memorial items, books, photographs, and drawings are organically integrated. In one of the rooms a real human skull is kept, reflecting the writer's interest in archaeology, and the museum also has a rocking chair — a piece of furniture that belonged to D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak. Period features include a piano with candelabra, a photograph album, a pocket for newspapers, and bead and surface embroidery… Visitors will discover the distinctive world of the Ural writer.
